15 Mar Fashion: Fabolous Makes Statement with Conscious Jacket Featuring Iconic World Changers
HipHop and fashion ICON, Fabolous rocked a custom-made “art meets activism” varsity jacket that honors iconic heroes who have used their platforms to improve the collective lives of all people during his performance at REVOLT TV State of Emergency 4 Concert. Cool Creative designed the jacket as part of their COOL ICONS Capsule Fashion Collection. Some of the ICONS featured on the patch-covered jacket include: Nelson Mandela, Angela Davis, MLK and Coretta Scott King, Nina Simone, Michael Jackson and the most recent addition to the line—Christopher Wallace, BIGGIE. This timely fashion collection comes when people young and old; and of all races and genders, have become more vocal, organized and conscious about the issues facing today’s society.
Terrance Wilson, co-founder of Cool Creative and a master illustrator from the prestigious Maryland Institute College of Arts, created the original drawings featured in the collection. Wilson used a Japanese animé style of the drawing to communicate the “heroic” theme of the message in the collection.
The jacket was presented to Fabolous during his IconTalks Award Ceremony in Brooklyn, New York, where Cool Creative paid homage to Biggie– on the 20th anniversary since his passing–by adding him as an ICON in the line. At the ceremony, Fabolous was awarded the keys to the city of Brooklyn, a street was named after him and he was given a prestigious icons award from the Icon Talks organization. Earlier this year Fabolous was named Council of Fashion Designers of America New York Fashion Week: Men’s Fashion ambassador.
