THE COOL ICONS DINNER

THE COOL ICONS DINNER PRESENTED BY COOL CREATIVE AND SOHO BEACH HOUSE

Sponsored by Lolea Sangria and food curated Chef Ophus

The COOL ICONS Dinner celebrated Black History Month with the COOL ICONS Fashion + Art Collection, a luxe streetwear line that features original drawings of iconic historical figures that used their influence to improve the lives of ALL people. The arts & activism experience featured an inspiring interview of artist, Terrance Wilson, an artful 6-course meal designed by Chef Ophus, a hard-hitting spoken word performance by Chris Leger and soulful vibes by Elements Band.

The table of 40 were introduced to the ICONS Capsule Collection in an interview moderated by Kaylin James. In the interview, Terrance Wilson explained about what influenced his style of art, selection of ICONS, color choices and his experience showing at NYFW 2017 for the first time. The artist, designer, pastor and philanthropist also shared about his work in the community over the past 12 years and the reason for the collection. He shared that the purpose of the ICONS is to help reintroduce the heroes and heroines of the past to today’s millennial generation. Now more than ever, people need to remember where we’ve been as a society so we don’t revert back to dark places in our history.

Chef Ophus shared his new culinary concept entitled “Afro,” an exploration of African influences in food of cultures all around the world. His idea presented an opportunity for people to taste the culinary history behind dishes & ingredients that may be common to some and foreign to others but with an understanding of the story that isn’t often credited. It’s about sharing the roots of dishes with the hopes of connecting people from generation to generation. With great vibes, amazing food and fashion… the mélange of VIP guests including fashion and art insiders, media and community leaders; came as strangers and left as family. The ICONS Collection was designed created out of love (COOL) and it’s effect was felt at this powerful dinner experience.
